What child is
this? I'll give you a hint, it's either Jacquie or John. Take a
vote on which one you think it is. with your vote!

|
Always the cyclist!
Here's a picture of John at age 3
(I guess) in front of the house in Hampton, VA. Little did my parents
know these wheels would start something... |
|
Jacquie's third
grade school portrait. Wasn't she cute?
Don't say anything
to her about the glasses...
|
|
John's bike in
1970 (also third grade). That bike, with the wacky handlebars, came
straight off the shelf at Sears. Over the course of many years, John
rode that old bike into the ground. |
|
Faded
as it is, this is Jacquie's only picture of her whole family together.
Mom is in the back with tall kids Bill and Sharyn. In the middle are
medium kids David and Jaimie. In the front are the twins, Dan and
Diana. And Jacquie is holding the basket. This was taken somewhere
in the early 70's. |
|
John's first
unicycle, on the day he bought it in 1980. Yup, it was snowing outside.
Such is life in Michigan... |
|
Jacquie and her
old boyfriend. Somehow I think he will always be in her heart. This
was at Jacquie's birthday party in August 1999. This was the Elvis
we wanted to get for the Wedding Show, but he was a guest at
a different wedding that day! |
|
John and Jacquie
on their first trip together, to Las Vegas in March 1999. We're standing
on the Brooklyn Bridge (at New York New York) with the Eiffel Tower
(Paris Las Vegas) in the background. |
|
In the Spring
we went up to Lake Tahoe and climbed around on Eagle Falls, at the
back of Emerald Bay. Careful placement of the camera on a rock resulted
in this un-doctored picture of us in front of the falls at dusk. |
|
In May 1999,
Jacquie took John on a trip to Maui! They did the 10,000 foot downhill
bike ride from the top of the Haleakala crater. It doesn't look like
Hawaii because we're still bundled up, halfway down the volcano. |
|
Part of any good
trip to Hawaii should include a Luau. At the Lahaina Luau, we dressed
the part. |
|
John's first
time riding a "real" motorcycle in five years! We rented
this Harley and took it for a spin around Maui. |
|
In August, we
went to the Snoqualmie Valley in Washington for the National Unicycling
Convention. This picture was taken at a picnic up at the Snoqualmie
Pass. |
|
On the Mt. Rose
Highway, fall 1999. It's near sunset, and we're looking back at Lake
Tahoe. |
|
Christmas 1999.
For our Christmas cards, we got the wacky idea of contrasting the
nice California weather with the bundling up of a "normal"
winter. Our "children" (Betty Lou and Bailey) posed with
us. |
|
Y2K! Right after
all the balloons dropped and all the world's computers (didn't) crash.
We spent our New Year celebration at the Downtown Countdown, with
about 10,000 other Sacramento revelers. |
|
Snoqualmie Falls,
Feb. 2000. We were back in Washington to visit grandma. |
|
Life
in the big chair. There is a Warner Brothers themed restaurant at
the Venetian in Las Vegas. This is their "casting couch"
I guess, in the restaurant lobby. A bigger couch I've never heard
of! |
|
Valley
of Fire. An hour's drive from Las Vegas are the spectacular red rocks
of the Valley of Fire. A must-see on your next trip there. Imagine
you're in a car commercial. I think they film a lot of them here. |
|
Signing the papers.
May 2nd we visited several of the wedding locations, and signed up
for the official license. "Now it seems real..." |
