Sly Park, Pollock Pines, CA

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Sly Park is about halfway between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. This beautiful man-made lake is perfect for boating, swimming and MUni! You can see snow capped mountains in the background, and a little speed boat in the center.

"Holy tree, Batman!" This tree (right) is a few miles outside Sly Park, in the El Dorado National Forest.

Below, we see Brett Bymaster checking out some of the shady singletrack. The majority of the trail is in shade like this.

At the back end of the lake is Hazel Creek, which is fed by this waterfall (below right). At the top of the waterfall is a big pipe about half a mile long, bringing water from the other side of the mountain. All of this (including the lake) was built by the Bureau of Reclamation in the 1940's or 50's.

The lake makes a beautiful backdrop, and beautiful scenery almost the entire ride. That's me, riding between rocks & stumps on my old piece 'o Schwinn (last year). Photo by Bloodman.

This is the Pine Cone Campground, where we will be based and race the Jenkinson Lake Wheel Dip. If you're too tired from the previous day's riding, just hang out, jump in the lake, eat, or practice for the wheel dip. Or bring your Jet Ski.

Below is the beach where we'll have our contest, riding from the right hand edge of the picture, down to the water, and back up again. The rock is sorta smooth, but not real smooth!
