Using the Kodak EasyShare Gallery

(formerly called Ofoto)

This page contains information on the ins and outs of the Kodak EasyShare Gallery (formerly Ofoto), where my older online photos are stored. This site isn't the best for viewing photos, they are in the business of selling prints. But they do the better than any other online photo company I've ver tried. They're is fast, and the prints look great. All the way up to 20 x 30! Also, they seem to allow unlimited storage space for pictures, which is a must for me.

Do I have to create an account?
I don't think so, unless you want to order prints or save album locations.

Can I see the images any bigger?
They don't get any bigger than what you see in the Slideshow viewer. Kodak keeps the images small so they don't hog bandwidth. This also protects the photographer (me) from unauthorized duplication. This is handy because I occasionally sell unicycling images to magazines and other publications. If you would like full-sized digital copies of any of my images, please . Or just order some prints. They're cheap! And I don't make a penny.

Can I use these images on my Web site or elsewhere?
I am happy to share my images with people who ask. In most situations, I will just request a photo credit and a link back to my Web site. This depends on the type of use, who it's for, etc. with the descriptions or numbers of the images you would like to use. Each image is numbered. Then if you like, I can send you full-sized copies of the images, so you don't have to use the low-res stuff from Ofoto. See below for an idea of the size of my digital camera images.

How big are your the original images?
My old camera, an Olympus D-450, took pictures at 1280 x 960 (1.3 megapixel). I used this camera up until mid-October 2001. My second digital was a Casio QV-4000. Uncropped pictures from that camera were 2240 x 1680 (4 megapixel). In the spring of 2004 I upgraded my Casio to an EX-P600. It shoots images at 2816 x 2112 (6 megapixel). Pictures from this camera are mostly only found in my Smugmug albums. The images I upload to Kodak, after working them in Photoshop, are about 500KB to 1MB each. Straight out of the camera, they average around 1.5MB each. Most of the pictures from the new camera are eligible for prints up to 20 x 30" from Ofoto. Older pictures are only good up to 8 x 10, or maybe 11 x 14.

Remember, the copyright on these images remains mine under all circumstances, and they may not be reproduced without permission.
